Review Of The Nikon Coolpix S230

The Nikon Coolpix S230 is a 10-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and a 3-inch touch LCD screen that is priced for under $200. Weighing in at just five ounces, the Coolpix is available in several colors, including red and blue. In addition to standard shooting features, such as automatic scene selection, this model also offers extra features, including face, blink, and smile detection.
Like many similar point-and-shoot cameras in this class and price range, the Nikon Coolpix offers generally good photo quality but suffers after ISO 200. Photos taken at ISO 400 can appear soft. Most colors appear natural, but reds are often too warm and vibrant. There is also some barrel distortion with the lens. The biggest drawback to the Coolpix, however, remains its slow performance. The startup time is three and a half seconds. Moreover, the shutter lag ranges from 0.5 to 1 second.
Overall, the Nikon Coolpix S230 is a good budget-friendly option for consumers who want a fashionable camera that takes decent pictures.
