Need Help with sony DCR-SR87 camcorder ?
Hello Guys,
I have this sony dcr-sr87 camcorder. We made around 100 home videos clips of 3 min duration each. I want to join them together and convert it in a movie. I want to convert it in the format so that it can be played on my dvd player. I tried its PMB software which came with the camera but it just copy the clips only but does not have ability to join them together. Could you guys please suggest me a good software where I can join these clips together without any loss of picture or sound quality. I am doing it all the time so I am ready to spend some money on any good software too.

The Sony DCR-SR87 is a consumer grade, hard disc drive camcorder that records to MPG video file format.
You did not tell us which computer or operating system you are using. The software included in the box with consumer camcorders is useless and does not need to be installed.
For low end video editors, Macintoshes have iMovie bundled; Windows XP2 or newer has MovieMaker bundled. If you want to move up, Macs have Final Cut; Windows has Sony Vegas – there are LOTS of other video editor titles available for both computer platforms.
You need to convert the MPG files to a format your computer’s video editor can deal with. Macintosh video editors like MOV, MP4 and DV format – among others. Windows video editors like WMV among others.

is cross platform and can do that conversion – there are lots of other transcoders out there.
After the video file is transcorded, drag the transcoded file to the video editor’s Capture area or the timeline – or Import it… Edit. Save. Then Save as the best resolution you can.
Then to burn a DVD, for Macs, iDVD is bundled or if you get Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio is outstanding… For Windows, DVD Maker should be available – if not, there are lots of DVD authoring tools out there.
