How is Technology Affecting Photography?
Hey, I have a business assignment to do, and I need to create a powerpoint presentation about how tech is affecting photography.
So how does technology affect:
cameras
image manipulation
printers
marketting and packaging (like using photos to market)
storage devices (like film, memory sticks)
Some of these are quite obvious, but I need more thoughts from diff. people. Thanks! And the answers need to be related to photography!
If you could, please help me with more than one subtopic! I’ll be considering those answers more for the 10 points! Thanks!

First off, have you done any research of your own by typing your terms above into Google? That would be a great place to start – plus you can follow threads of topics that sound interesting to you. Wikipedia is usually a good, elementary place to start (just like the hardcopy encyclopedias kids in elementary school used to rip off to write homework assignments); it also provides links to other info sources. For cameras, think about how technology advances have progressed from folks having to use glass plates and big clunky cameras that only worked on tripods, to smaller cameras that could be handheld & only used film, to a range of camera types that use digital sensors. Do some research on the differences in the look and feel of the photos produced by those different media. Image manipulation is the same: you used to have to send film in to Kodak to be processed or go to a custom printer – with digital media and software apps you can do all kinds of sophisticated editing and easily create altered images on your computer at home (or in photo stores). Marketing and advertising – look back at old magazines from the late 1800′s to early 1900′s – images were hand drawn or etchings – nowadays magazines rarely use hand-drawn illustrations and almost exclusively use photos. Look at examples of each and explain how you as a reader/viewer of the images are impacted differently. Another biz impact – think about if you were a mfr of cameras and had competitors adding all the latest & greatest bells and whistles – how would you compete (price, more unique tech-based features, etc.). You really have all the topic headings you need for a great PowerPoint presentation, you just need to put the time in to research 1-2 of the topics. I’d say don’t try to tackle them all – it’s too broad. Go for it. Think of it as an adventure, then put the energy in to looking the stuff up and picking out what interests you. It is so easy to type into Google and print out the results.
